- Lace Hair Systems– Made entirely of mesh fabric or lace material, these hair systems are the hottest trend in the hair replacement industry as they are the lightest and most breathable and offer the most natural appearance possible. A full lace hair system can be made from many different types of lace materials to increase the durability, however will probably have a limited lifespan and require more regular replacement.
- Lace / Poly Hair Systems– To achieve the natural appearance of a total lace hair systems yet provide a longer lifespan, there are combination systems using lace material only in the front and hairline area. These poly / lace hair systems are available in a variety of different designs and materials. Mostly lace fronts with poly in the back and top are there to add strength and durability. The drawback is in the way they feel because of the varying weight between lace in the front and poly in the back; running your fingers through the hair will sometimes reveal a small ‘bump’ at the point where the two materials meet.
- Poly Hair Systems – Hair systems made entirely of polyurethane are common because of their durability. The biggest drawback with poly hair systems is that they are not breathable. This makes them temperature hot and as a result less comfortable to wear than lace hair systems.

This is a review of the Grey white hair Toupee for men with a PU skin or base. It comes in a basic plain box plus some tape to use if required but I didn’t have need of it. Being rather challenged in the hair department – or okay, lack of it – this was quite something to try out. I was amazed to find the hair colouring which is quoted as being sourced from human hair, was a very close match to my own, or what I still have that is mine I should say. It’s the fitting in initially that takes the time up but once done, it fits okay. The unnerving thing is looking in the mirror afterwards and seeing yourself about twenty years young (plus a little bit of VAT of course – in my case, about ten months) as it does indeed change you. I tried it on as our postmen was coming up the front garden path and I opened the door to greet him and he had a double take and asked if ‘my brother was about’ as he had a packet that needed a signature for. The acid test was passed but I am now ‘breaking it in’ by using it on occasions until people, and the postman, realise it is me. For an ‘off the page’ wig or hairpiece, it works. In the final result, you do really get what you pay for. Brilliant. 5 Stars

Really quite surprised by how well made this NLW Men’s Grey Toupee is and how dense and carefully placed the hair is. Of course the ‘after’ photos above are highly misleading and to get anywhere near the look of the men in them would take some effort and time, but seeing the basic quality of the toupee it seems possible. The photos of the wig straight from the box are much more accurate and you need to do some careful trimming along the hairline to remove excess base layer. The shape is age-appropriate and meant to be worn high on the head mimicking an slight receding hairline, therefore the overall size isn’t huge and if you’re hoping to cover the sides of your head you’ll need a full wig to achieve that.
Obviously it’s going to take some time to get the toupee to blend convincingly into your existing hair and both you and the toupee would be advised to visit a good hairdresser to make that happen. Once you’ve adapted the toupee to your hair and vice-versa it could look pretty good, far better than I’d expected for an off-the-shelf toupee, but it’s undeniably going to take some effort to get there. The toupee is supplied with all the hair swept back but it is possible to restyle it and disguising the front hairline slightly might make it a lot less detectable, that’s always the most difficult area to conceal. It arrives nicely boxed and wrapped around a plastic form to keep its shape and you get a small roll of toupee tape in the box so you can experiment in the privacy of your home. If you’ve been considering getting one this toupee seems a good first step and for the money it offers good value and something that could, with some help, look quite convincing.

So the description states this is a:-
Gray white hair toupee for men PU skin european human hair pieces for men. Hair replacement man piece soft. White-PU skin base.
This toupee is made from Virgin human hair and attached to a polyurethane thin skin. To try and make it look as realistic as possible.
The difference between a good and bad toupee can be how it’s actually attached and styled. You can have a really good one like this and if not attached and blended correctly it will look like a joke.
Befor this is attached you need to cut along the hair line, this will make fitting better and the appearance.
I would then recommend you take it to a good hair dressers where they will cut your hair and do a blend cut to sync the two together.
Luckily my mother is a hair dresser, so we were able to do this ourselves.
If your just going to plonk it on someone’s head it’s going to look bad and stand out.
If you give it some care and attention, it’s not just going to look good it’s going to knock years of your age and give you your confidence back.
Because it’s real hair you can wash and dry it as normal.
To attach you can use glue or tape it’s what’s feels better for you.
I would recommend once dry and styling it, once it’s attached to use some products to give it some stability, like mouse, gel or hair spray etc…
